how about a date baby? (2024)

Clear acrylic, CNC-milled typographic forms, 96 × 96 × 37 in

Stacked acrylic forms a phrase that justified a lynching. The letters refuse to read.

A floor-based sculpture of stacked transparent acrylic. The phrase—lifted from the false testimony used to justify the lynching of a Black child—is neither fully legible nor fully abstract.

The letters refuse legibility. Language becomes a trap that won't release.
